Looking for the best option for 6-my family of 5 & grandma. Not sure if we should get two rooms or stay in a villa. I would like a resort that is easy to get to Magic Kingdom since our kids our 2, 4, 6. Jan 2010 so probably won't be swimming.

    Hi Tanya,

My family often brings one or both of my parents along to Disney with us.  This way the kids get some extra time with their grandparents, and we get some time to enjoy an adults-only dinner or two!  As Disney Vacation Club Members, we usually stay in a one or two-bedroom villa at one of the DVC properties.  Each has a fully-stocked kitchen, laundry room and separate living room.  The amenities at the villas enable us to save money on food (because we have breakfast and snacks inside our room), pack lighter (because we can do laundry while on the trip) and enjoy each other's company, while still having our own space.

You do not need to be a member of DVC to stay in a villa, as they are available for "rent" similar to a standard resort room.  Based on your preferences, I would suggest taking a look at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge.  The resort is absolutely magnificent, with what I believe is the most beautiful lobby at Disney World.  The property is themed like some of the great National Parks, and even has it's own version of Old Faithful Geyser!  In addition, the Magic Kingdom is a short boat ride away, making this property immensely popular with families who plan to spend much of their time at the park.

I know you said you might not be swimming, however, the pools at the Disney resorts are heated, and Wilderness Lodge has one of the best!  I might recommend bringing along swim suits just in case!

    Have a wonderful trip!
