Hi! I have been looking at annual passes and have a question. I know the annual pass start date is the first use at a park. Would I be able to use the pass holder discount to book hotels before that first use, to book a stay for the first use? Thanks!

Hey there, Bethanie! Welcome to planDisney!

I’m always happy to answer questions about Walt Disney World Annual Passes. I purchased my first Annual Pass last year, and the discounts and perks have been awesome, especially the discounts on Walt Disney World Resort hotels. It’s always nice to save some money or treat yourself by upgrading your stay.

I’m happy to report that you can take advantage of Annual Passholder discounts towards Walt Disney World Resort hotels before activating your pass. I was able to do this when visiting last spring, and it’s important to note that other perks, such as discounts at select dining locations and merchandise, cannot be used until your pass is activated.  You can find the Annual Pass Terms and Conditions here if you’d like to read more. You can call the Annual Passholders phone line to talk with a friendly Cast Member or email V.I.PASSHOLDER Support if you have other Annual Pass-related questions.

When you’re ready to activate your Annual Pass, you can activate it at any of the Walt Disney World theme parks or the Ticket Center at Disney Springs. I was able to activate my Annual Pass at Blizzard Beach on the first day of our trip, so the water parks are also an option.

I hope this info is helpful, Bethanie. Don’t hesitate to come back to planDisney if you have more vacation planning questions. We’re always happy to help!

    Magical travels!
