By looking at the Animal Kingdom map, it appears that Rafiki is located far away from the rest of the park and we have to take a train to get there. How long should we allow to get there and get an autograph and get back to a parade route spot?

So Garland, you would like to meet wise old Rafiki? Then hop aboard the Wildlife Express Train to Rafiki's Planet Watch.

Rafiki's Planet Watch is a tucked away corner of Disney's Animal Kingdom that boasts a wildlife conservation center and the Affection Section where you may pet small animals. Most days Rafiki hangs here from about 10:15 am to 5:00 or 6:00 pm.

While the train ride out only takes seven minutes and the return journey is an even quicker five minutes, allow additional time to wait for the Express and the meet and greet and explore the area. Also factor in walking form the train station to the parade route and staking out a viewing spot. Allow at least an hour and a half for your mini adventure. If crowds are heavy count on extra time to reach Rafiki and return.

Consider catching Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade at the end of its route. The Animal Kingdom parade returns to Harambe at the end of its procession usually about 20 minutes after the start time. Crowds should be thinner and you will have a little wiggle room time at Rafiki's Planet Watch. Be sure to stop by Guest Services when you arrive at the park to check if and when Rafiki will be appearing the day you are in the park.
