We are looking ahead to a visit this December with my parents. My father will need a wheelchair to get around and we'd like to dine at Le Cellier. Is this restaurant wheelchair accessible?

    Carolyn:

My father is in a wheelchair, so I notice a lot of logistical details like ramps vs. steps, etc.

Le Cellier has a winding sidewalk that leads up to its doorway and is not a problem to navigate its entrance.  Once inside, the dining room is lower than the initial level you enter (hence the theming of a cellar), however, an unassuming rampway guides guests to the large dining room.  Be aware that the tables, in my opinion, are rather tight, so make sure that you put a note on your dining reservation that you have a wheelchair guest in your party and then remind the host/hostess when you check-in.

When I go to restaurants with my dad, I also check out our table--and the route to get there--before we leave the host stand.  This avoids unnecessary embarrassment for him and disruption of other diners.  Even though the restaurant will be busy, and it may seem a bit cautious, especially to a naive host, it's a suggestion worth considering.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!
