How long does it typically take to get from AK to MK? We have dinner reservations for 4:50 at Tusker House, and would like to go see Wishes after, which is scheduled at 8:00. Do you think we will have enough time? Should I try to FP Wishes?

    Hey Rachelle-

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. As the park slows down you picked a fantastic time to enjoy the African delights at Tusker House Restaurant in the Harambe marketplace of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park.

On a recent trip to Walt Disney World Resort it took us 60 minutes to get from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park to Magic Kingdom Park. Disney recommends budgeting 90 minutes when traveling within the Resort proper. Walt Disney World Bus Service is complimentary and runs 45 minutes prior to Park opening till one hour after Park closing.

Since your reservation is at 4:50 p.m., I would expect you to complete dinner by 6:15 p.m. and at Magic Kingdom Park no later than 7:45 p.m. It is highly unlikely that you would miss Wishes nighttime spectacular with your reservation time. The best views for fireworks are anywhere in front of Cinderella Castle where there is plenty of room for all.

Disney Dad Tip: If you are worried about time you may always call an Uber driver or taxi to pick you up from Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. They will be able to get you to Magic Kingdom Park without having to wait on a bus and should save you time. The fare should be around $15-20.

Rachelle, enjoy making many Magical Memories.
