Long time reader, First time Disney Cruiser. My little guy is a picky eater; For Castaway Cay, can I bring food off the ship for him to eat on the island (specifically chicken fingers) or is feeding him before we get off the ship the only option?

    Hi there, Kristen!

Thank you for reaching out to planDisney again. As a mom of two kids who definitely have their own food preferences, I am happy to answer your questions! My kids could also live off chicken nuggets. I can't blame them...chicken nuggets are tasty!

Only pre-packaged food is allowed off the ship at Disney Castaway Cay (or other Ports of Call) in my experience. I am sorry! Your rotational dining team stays with you for dinner each night. You can try asking your server if it is possible to arrange for chicken tenders to be available for your son on the island, but they may not be able to do that.

Fortunately, a delicious lunch is available on Disney Castaway Cay, and even better, it is complimentary! Cookie's BBQ and Cookie's Too BBQ offer fabulous all-you-care-to-eat spreads. Kid-friendly options often include burgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, chips, and fruit. My youngest child could eat all of the fruit! Desserts typically include ice cream, cookies, and cake. If none of those options appeal to your son, you can also head back to the ship for lunch.

I also saw your question about In-Room Dining. I love that most options for In-Room Dining are complimentary! I suggest bringing cash for gratuities for Room Service Crew Members who bring snacks right to your stateroom. They are the best!

Current In-Room Dining choices for the Disney Fantasy include Crispy Breaded Chicken Tenders with French Fries; a special selection of international cheeses served with crackers; and Flatbreads (a Lamb and Beef Flatbread and a Spinach and Feta Flatbread). Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars should also be available! Uncrustables are not listed on the menu at this time, but they may be available during your sailing. Hot dogs and pizza are not currently offered for In-Room Dining. However, pizza is available at Luigi's Pizza, and hot dogs can usually be found at Tow Mater's Grill on Deck 11. Keep in mind that the In-Room Dining menu can change at any time. You can see up-to-date menus on the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app after boarding the ship.

Kristen, thank you again for contacting planDisney! I hope your voyage is filled with joy and laughter!

    Happy sailing!
