Bright Suns, Shelly!
I see that you are venturing into a
galaxy far, far away in the near future! You've come to the right place, as I have also traveled to Batuu with a young Padawan to build a lightsaber with
Savi. It is truly an unforgettable experience, one you will retell to future generations of Jedis!
The experience from start to finish, once you are inside the workshop, is about 20-30 minutes. I'd recommend heading to Black Spire Outpost a bit earlier to check in and take your time choosing from one of four hilt themes: Peace and Justice, Power and Control, Elemental Nature, or Protection and Defense. This is an important decision for every Jedi! You will receive a special pin to identify your choice amongst your fellow Gatherers. I won't reveal any more details from here, but just know it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
When I made our Savi's reservation, I knew I wanted it to be right around sunset. Once the building was complete, we headed over to the
Millennium Falcon and grabbed a few photos with a
Disney PhotoPass photographer just as dusk was settling in so the glow of the saber would take center stage! If you've added
Lightning Lane Multi-Pass to your ticket, one of the perks is unlimited digital downloads of all the PhotoPass photos you capture that day, so don't be shy—we took many photos and took full advantage with lots of different poses!
Shelly, I hope this has helped pave your path to the galaxy. Plan to make a night of it by booking a Single Pass for
Rise of the Resistance either just before or after your Savi's reservation so you can step right into the Star Wars story itself. If you have any more questions, we are always here for you at
planDisney.
May the magic be with you,
Tara
