How long would it take to park hop from magic Kingdom to ride tower of terror and back again?

    Hello, Richard!

Thanks for bringing such a fun question our way! I love park hopping, especially when I'm trying to squeeze every ounce of magic possible into a short visit. I've completed the 4 parks in 1-day challenge twice so far and have felt proud of all that we were able to accomplish each time. We were tired but full of pixie dust and ready for more magic the following morning!

Your question is great, but unfortunately, I can't give you a concrete answer since many factors will come into play. Will you be utilizing your own vehicle, a ride-share service, or bus transportation between the Magic Kingdom Park and Disney's Hollywood Studios? Will you be riding The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror via Lightning Lane entrance or waiting in the standby line? Will you be hopping early in the day or later in the afternoon? There are so many variables to consider but I'm not one to back down from a challenge. Let's try to come up with an estimate!

Let's assume you decide to hop by bus for this calculation. If a bus is ready and waiting, your actual travel time to Disney's Hollywood Studios should be around 25 minutes or so. However, I'd estimate up to an hour of transit time since buses arrive every 20 minutes and you'll need to add in walking to and from the bus stops at each location. I went back to look through pictures of my recent park hopping challenge and we had our photo taken on Slinky Dog Dash at 4:58 p.m., walked straight to the bus pickup area at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and snapped our next photo at the entrance of Magic Kingdom Park at 5:42 p.m. We waited less than 5 minutes for the bus to arrive. If you'll be using your own car or a ride-share service factor in a bit more time to get back to the Transportation and Ticket Center by Ferryboat or Monorail from Magic Kingdom Park.

If you plan to ride The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror via Lightning Lane your wait shouldn't be too long, but note that unexpected attraction downtime and delays are always possible. We opted for the Lightning Lane entrance and arrived at the start of our 1-hour return window. My photo time stamps show us first saying cheese on Sunset Boulevard at 2:30 p.m. and our attraction photo shows us plummeting down the Hollywood Tower Hotel exactly 20 minutes later. Standby waits will fluctuate depending on the day and even the time of day. You might drop in with a short standby wait of 20 minutes at the very start of the day but I've seen waits of 75-90 minutes or more on busy days. It's hard to estimate so I'd recommend opting for the Lightning Lane entrance if possible to save some time.

So, to recap let's say up to an hour of travel time each way plus 30 minutes for riding with the purchase of Disney Genie+ Service. I'd round up to 3 hours to give yourself an extra cushion and allow for bathroom and/or snack breaks too. Hopefully, your experience will take less time but I just want you to be prepared.

I hope this helps give you a better handle on the timing for your visit this fall. If I can answer any other park hopping questions or help you coordinate your logistics and itinerary please feel free to write me directly
