Hi Kristy! Welcome to planDisney!
You are going to love your stay at
Disney's Contemporary Resort. My family stayed there for the first time last fall and we loved the modern theme, the quick walk to Magic Kingdom Park, and the amazing views - both the lake side and the theme park side!
The
monorail is one of my favorite rides on all of Walt Disney World Resort property. Our trip is never complete until I hear "Por favor mantengase alejado de las puertas" as the monorail doors close at least once! You are able currently able to use the monorail to travel to the Transportation and Ticket Center, Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, and
Magic Kingdom Park. Usually, there is also a stop at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, but the lobby there is undergoing refurbishment, so the monorail station is temporarily closed. Should you need to get to that Disney Resort hotel, however, it is a quick walk from the Transportation and Ticket Center, or I found there was a resort loop bus operating between Magic Kingdom area resorts when I was last there. It was so convenient!
As for making your way over to
Disney Springs for your dining reservation, you will need to take the
complimentary bus transportation, since the monorail does not travel to Disney Springs. When my family used this on our last visit, it took about 20-30 minutes of travel time. You will want to allow extra time for waiting for a bus to arrive and walking from the bus drop-off location to
T-REX. I suggest you begin your journey at least 1 hour before your reservation time to make sure you are there in plenty of time.
I hope this helps, Kristy! Please let us know if you have any more questions before your trip.
