How long is the monorail ride from Epcot to Magic Kingdom and what times does the monorail start in the morning and finish in the evenings? Does the monorail get really packed at certain times of the day and can there be lengthy waiting times to get on?

    Hi Michelle!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

There's something quite exciting about taking the monorail - especially when you are arriving at Epcot, as the line goes into the park, as far as Test Track, giving you a bird's eye view of Future World and then loops back into the monorail station.  Using the monorail is a fun way to travel to Magic Kingdom Park from Epcot, because you are in that elevated position and have a great view of the surroundings as you travel along.  From Epcot you would take the monorail to the Transportation and Ticket Center, where you would transfer to the Express Monorail which takes you straight to Magic Kingdom Park.  Taking into account waiting times, and walking times between platforms, I would probably allow 40-45 minutes for the total transfer time, but you could get lucky if a monorail is already waiting at any of the stations.  The Disney Monorail System will start operating around 30 minutes before park opening times, and will continue to run for an hour after closing times, and the Resort Transportation is always busier early in the mornings and at park closing, but this could fluctuate throughout the day.  I have had a Disney Bus to myself on many occasions when travelling around the middle of the day!

Please come back and visit us if you have any further questions.  We will be happy to help you plan your magical vacation to Walt Disney World.
