how long does it take to get a magic band? We want to drive up for the day and are leaving for florida in <2 weeks.

Hi there, Lisa, and welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! Thank you so much for stopping by with your question. It sounds like your Sunshine State adventure is right around the corner. I'm so excited for you! I'm sure you're trying to nail down all those last-minute details and pack up everything you'll need - including your MagicBands!

These fun and functional little wrist bands are your key to the Walt Disney World Resort - literally! They open your Resort hotel room door, serve as your Park ticket, give you access to your FastPass+ attractions, and even collect all your Disney PhotoPass photos. If you're staying in a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you'll receive a complimentary MagicBand for each Guest on your reservation. Once you've chosen and customized them in your My Disney Experience account, Disney says it should take about 11 days for you to receive your MagicBands at your home. If it's too late to have them shipped to you, select the option to pick the bands up at your Resort hotel, and they should be ready and waiting for you when you check in.

Lisa, if you're not staying in a Disney Resort hotel this time, you have a couple of options for MagicBands. You can purchase MagicBands through, although I expect that process will take a little longer. Alternatively, you can buy MagicBands when you arrive at Walt Disney World. You'll find lots of styles to choose from at many retail shops in the Theme Parks and Resort hotels, and in the World of Disney store at Disney Springs. If you decide you don't want to buy MagicBands, hakuna matata! No worries! The admission cards you receive with your tickets will take care of pretty much anything you need to do when visiting the Theme Parks.

I hope this helps you plan a magical Walt Disney World vacation, Lisa. Have fun here in the Sunshine State, and please come see us again if you have any more questions!

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
