Welcome to planDisney, Gregory! We are glad you stopped by with your question.
The battery life for MagicBand 2 (the version introduced in late 2016/early 2017) is estimated to be about 2 years. This refers to the long-range battery life, which is used to "automagically" connect your on-ride
Disney PhotoPass photos and also powers fun surprises in the parks, such as adding your name to the passenger manifest display in the queue at
Star Tours - The Adventures Continue. I do own MagicBands several years older than this that are working just fine. However, even if the long-range battery is no longer working, your MagicBand should still work for any "Mickey to Mickey" touchpoints, such as entrance tapstyles,
Lightning Lane entrances, unlocking the door to your Disney Resort Hotel room, or point of sale terminals when charging purchases to your hotel room folio. If you find your MagicBand is no longer linking your on-ride photos to your
My Disney Experience account, you can have at least one member of your party purchase a new band or you can create a
Disney MagicMobile pass on your phone and enable your Bluetooth settings.
MagicBand+, introduced in 2022,
has a rechargeable battery and comes with a charging cable. Battery life is estimated to last 1 to 3 days between charges.
It is recommended that you charge your band each night during your vacation. As with MagicBand 2, MagicBand+ should still work at touchpoints even if the battery needs charging. Only the interactive features rely on battery power.
Gregory, I hope this information was helpful. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to visit planDisney again anytime.
