Hey there Beth, it's great to have you back here at planDisney!
It sounds to me like what you mean by holiday expirations might actually be holiday
decorations instead, and there's really nothing like strolling through the theme parks as
the festive season descends upon Walt Disney World Resort. It's definitely
an overnight effort that takes more than a little extra pixie dust to accomplish as teams seemingly transform places like Magic Kingdom Park from the spooky Halloween season to a winter wonderland, so it's nice to be able to continue to experience all of these decorations into January after the holidays! I've actually spent the previous two years at Walt Disney World Resort in January, and here's what you might expect based on my personal observations and experience:
- Arriving at Magic Kingdom Park in a state of post-holiday bliss even in the second week of January, I've found that the trees, tinsel and decorations remained up longer around Main Street U.S.A but had been removed by January 12th from what I observed. I noticed that the the Disney Resort Hotels were among the first to take down their decorations just days after New Year's Eve, followed by the other theme parks with Magic Kingdom Park having the last remaining bits of holiday cheer.
I hope this helps you plan ahead for your trip in January, Beth! It's important to note that though these have been the trends in recent years, we could just as easily be surprised by changes happening without any prior notice so any sightings of holiday decor remnants cannot be guaranteed. I do hope however, that you get the opportunity to see what it's like to enter Magic Kingdom Park in holiday mode one day, and return to see it totally transformed days later - it's definitely quite an experience!
Here's to kicking off another year at the Most Magical Place on Earth!
