How long does it take to disembark in Vancouver and then get to the airport?

Ahoy, Lori! Welcome to planDisney, where we aim to answer all of your Disney Cruise Line questions for smooth sailing during your vacation.

Disney Cruise Line usually starts allowing guests to disembark in Vancouver around 7:00am or 7:30am, but the time can vary because the ship must first be cleared by local authorities before the debarkation process can officially begin. If your priority is getting off the ship as soon as possible, then you can elect to participate in Express Walk-Off, which involves carrying all of your luggage off the ship with you. With that option, guests can begin exiting the ship as soon as the all-clear announcement is made, but don’t forget that you will still need to go through customs. This option is the fastest because you do not have to wait for your luggage group to be called and fewer people are generally trying to use it. Alternatively, you can put your luggage outside your stateroom the night before with your assigned character tags and wait for your luggage group to be called on debarkation day to go collect it from the terminal before you proceed to customs. Either way, the amount of time it takes will depend on the number of people getting off the ship at the same time and how fast they are moving through customs.

Sailings from Vancouver use the Canada Place Cruise Terminal, which is approximately 30-45 minutes from the Vancouver International Airport (YVR) depending on traffic. To help guests make travel arrangements, Disney Cruise Line provides flight-time guidelines for each departure port and recommends that the earliest departure time from the Vancouver International Airport should be 12:30PM on debarkation day. As long as your flight is scheduled for after that recommended time, then you should not have any problems disembarking the ship and getting to the airport in time.

For added convenience, Disney Cruise Line also offers ground transfers between the Canada Place Cruise Terminal and the Vancouver International Airport on both embarkation and debarkation days. The cost is currently $28 per guest one-way, but that price is always subject to change. You can add round-trip airport transportation to your reservation online, but you must call Disney Cruise Line directly at (800) 951-3532 to add a one-way transfer. Cast members are available to speak with you Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM EST, and Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM EST. Be sure to have your reservation number ready and they will help you add ground transportation just for debarkation day if that would help ease your travel concerns.

My family will also be setting sail from Vancouver on an Alaskan itinerary this summer, so I understand your excitement and desire to get all of the travel logistics figured out ahead of time. If you have any other questions about your upcoming sailing, then please do not hesitate to reach back out to planDisney. Happy sailing!
