How long will it take to charge my Disney magic band plus for the first time and will it let me know when it’s fully charged.

    Hiya, Jill! Welcome to planDisney!

Thank you for stopping by with your question, Jill. It looks like you have a late summer visit planned to The Most Magical Place on Earth! Late August is one of my favorite times of year to visit Walt Disney World. Crowds tend to be lower, and the Halloween offerings are usually well underway by then as well!

To answer your question, Jill, your brand-new MagicBand+ shouldn’t take more than a couple of hours to charge. When your MagicBand+ is charging, the lighted ring that surrounds the center will glow in segments. Each segment represents 25%. When the ring glows all the way around, it’s fully charged! You can also check the charge in the My Disney Experience app once it’s linked.

Setting up your new MagicBand+ is done in three easy steps:

    1. Power on your MagicBand+ by pressing the button on the back once, then tap the band to your phone.
    2. You will see a prompt to open the My Disney Experience app on your device.
    3. Follow the instructions in the app to link your MagicBand+ to your account, assign it to a Guest, and pair it to your mobile device.

And that’s it! It’s that easy. You can then use the app to make sure your band is charged and that the software is up to date. There’s a handy support page on the Walt Disney World website that addresses common issues. It’s a great resource to keep in your back pocket, just in case.

MagicBand+ is definitely a nice thing to have on your wrist, Jill! You can use it to access your Disney Resorts Collection hotel room, scan into the theme parks, access the Lightning Lane queues at select attractions, and much more!

Like I mentioned earlier, you’ll be visiting during Halloween season. I highly recommend attending Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. This is a separately ticketed event that takes place on select evenings from August through October. Dates have yet to be announced for this year, but announcements should be coming soon! Keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog and Disney Parks social pages for updates on that front.

If you have any other questions as you continue to plan your trip, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us here at planDisney. We’re always happy to help!

    Happy planning!
