    How long should we allow to travel from MK to Mickey's BBQ? Two different reservation people had told me to very different times from 2 1/2 hours to 1 1/2 hours to make the trip. I just don't want to be late for our 6:30 reservation Memorial Day Weekend.

    Hi Vicki! Wow, I think the reservation people were giving you a general answer they must give to all guests!  We stay in our motor coach at Fort Wilderness and take the trip often from there to the Magic Kingdom and it NEVER takes as long as they are saying!



    The best way to get there is to take the boat launch and it is conveniently located directly in front of the entrance to the park. Check to make sure you are in the correct line as the left side goes to the Wilderness Lodge and the right side goes to Fort Wilderness which is what you want.  The actual trip takes about 15 minutes but you must take into consideration long lines and waiting for boats. I would head there about 45 minutes before you want to be at Mickey's Backyard Barbecue so you are not stressing and rushing. Once you arrive at Fort Wilderness it will be a short walk from the marina to Pioneer Hall area where there will be signs directing you to your event. There is a path off to the right of the building. The line does start to build up early and it is first come first choice of seats. Before they open they often bring some characters out to the waiting line for guests to see and they also offer cold beverages during the warmer months.  If you want to participate in the line activities then you need to consider getting there earlier then the actual event.
