Hello! We logged on today- 60 days out- to book reservations for Plaza Inn on Mother’s Day this year. When all reservations dropped, none of the character breakfast options showed available. Did they all get taken in seconds or they open at a later date?

    Hi Melissa,

Thanks for trusting planDisney with your dining question. I spent Mother’s Day at Disneyland last year with my daughter, and it was such a great time. It was then that I learned about the special Mother’s Day Brunch that the Plaza Inn hosts. Attending this event is definitely on my list of Disneyland To-Dos.

Take it from your Mumsy—dining reservations for character dining and special events go like hotcakes. It’s very possible that reservations for that day were booked up quickly. While I know that’s disappointing news, there is still hope for you to add this event to your Disney day.

Keep checking back for reservations, as people may change their plans and a spot could open up. The Plaza Inn, as well as other character dining restaurants, may also offer same-day reservations on a limited basis (subject to availability). So, while other guests might rope drop Space Mountain, you and your party can attempt to rope drop the Plaza Inn to see if you can snag a same-day reservation. The Mother’s Day Brunch buffet is scheduled to take place on Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10, from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM, so that’s a decent window of time to try for a walk-up reservation. If your plans are flexible, I recommend trying the Saturday date, as it might be a less competitive day for a walk-up reservation. Disney magic has been on my side in the past, and I’ve been able to make walk-up reservations at Goofy’s Kitchen and Storytellers Cafe. I’ll be thinking of you on Mother’s Day weekend, hoping some Disney magic comes your way.

I hope these tips are helpful, Melissa. I’ll be wishing on a star that you can join Minnie and her friends for the Mother’s Day celebration. If you have any other questions or need help planning, feel free to reach out to me or one of my fellow panelists. We’d be happy to share our thoughts.

Best of luck, and remember, Mother knows best!
