Hello and welcome to
planDisney, Nina. Thanks for dropping by with your question
Nina, it must be so fun to live so close to
Walt Disney World. I'm located only about an 8-hour drive away and visit at least once a month. I'd imagine if I lived any closer I would be there all of the time too.
Because we visit so often, sometimes we like to enjoy our evenings at the different lounges located at the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. My personal favorite spot to hang out is the
Tambu Lounge at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. In fact, I was hanging out there last week. So fun! I've experienced what you have mentioned on a few occasions when driving myself or even being dropped off via a rideshare service - but not all of the time. It seems to me like when it is a busier time at Walt Disney World and the parking lot is pretty full, the deluxe resorts will tighten the reigns a bit on who can come in via a vehicle. I don't believe this is an official rule that is enforced all of the time because just last week I could come and go just fine. It is sort of up to the security guard's discretion. What they have suggested to me in the past, and this works out well, is if visiting a resort hotel on the monorail loop to be dropped off at the Transportation & Ticket Center instead. Then, you can hop on the
monorail and head over to any of the resort hotels located on the monorail loop. It takes a few extra minutes getting around but then you are guaranteed entry into that particular hotel. I think next time you visit if you don't want to run the risk of being turned away this is a really great option.
I hope this helps, Nina. If you have any other questions, please feel free to stop back by and
ask me. I'm here to help!
Have a great week.
Jackie H.
