Hi Cheri,
Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel. It's exciting that you're planing your trip to
Walt Disney World Resort.
The tricky thing about "Is it worth it?" questions is that everyone will have a different definition of what they consider "worth it" and what they consider "not worth it." I'm happy to share my own personal experience on the question.
On one of our recent trips to Walt Disney World Resort, my wife and son and I traveled on different itineraries. I traveled to Walt Disney World Resort from Orlando International Airport using
Disney's Magical Express.
My wife and son took a flight from an alternative regional airport (not our local airport) to Orlando Sanford International Airport to save on airfare, and then took an Uber to Walt Disney World Resort. On the return trip, they had a very early morning flight and took a taxi from the Resort back to Sanford.
All in all — and again, this is just our personal experience talking — we felt the reduced airfare was not worth it given the transportation cost with Sanford International Airport. If we were to fly into Sanford again to save on airfare, we would consider renting a car. Thing is, for our vacationing style, we simply never rent a car while at Walt Disney World Resort. I know many guests prefer to rent a car and drive themselves around. Everyone's vacationing preferences are personal.
So I think your answer depends on your personal preferences. You'll want to consider your preference on renting a car, and you'll want to determine if the cost of renting a car combined with reduced airfare gives you the value and savings you're seeking.
No matter how you arrive at Walt Disney World, the magic will be waiting for you.
Enjoy your Disney!
Jerry
