Hi there, Sue Ann!
Welcome to
planDisney! Thanks for stopping by as you prepare for your adventure to the Most
Magical Place on Earth. Let's talk about acquiring
Lightning Lane passes.
Guests traveling from countries outside the United States can make Lightning Lane purchases upon arrival. As soon as your plane lands and you are able to, open the My Disney Experience mobile app and start planning! Since you're staying in a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel, you'll be able to secure Lightning Lane passes for the duration of your trip, up to 14 days. Try reserving some of the most popular attractions for the days at the end of your trip when availability is likely better. The good news is that you're not visiting during a peak travel week in Walt Disney World, so wait times and crowds will be lower than they are surrounding national or school holidays. My family frequently vacations during mid-August when most children in the United States have returned to school, and we find that it's a relaxing time to tour the theme parks.
Sue Ann, although the crowds are low in late August and early September, temperatures are still high. Check out
this Disney Parks Blog article featuring tips from my planDisney pals for staying cool during Olaf's favorite season. I plan for indoor, air-conditioned breaks during the afternoon when the sun is hottest. Also, be sure to pack ponchos or umbrellas so you can still enjoy the theme parks during afternoon rain showers, which are typical this time of year.
I hope this has been helpful and that you have a wonderful vacation. If there is anything else planDisney can do to make it even more memorable, don't hesitate to write back. You've got a friend in me! Thanks again for sending your question our way, and have a magical day.
Betsy
