We live in Orlando & have a family member coming to visit & wanted to share the best of the Magic Kingdom with her. Are there any suggested itineraries for a one day visit? Or what would you consider the can't miss attractions (5yr included)?

How fun, Leslie!  I know when I lived in the area, it was always fun to pop in for a day visit to the parks.

Since you have a five year old, I would suggest hitting Fantasyland faves such as it's a small world, Peter Pan's Flight (my personal favorite ride), The Barnstormer (35" minimum height to ride), Mad Tea Party and Mickey's Philharmagic.  Then, proceed to Adventureland by way of Liberty Square and enjoy Jungle Cruise, Magic Carpets of Aladdin and Pirates of the Caribbean. Make your way across the hub in front of Cinderella's Castle and head toward Tomorrowland for Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin and Monster's Inc. Laugh Floor.  If time permits and the five year old is tall enough you can tackle the "Mountains" of Magic Kingdom, otherwise known as Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Currently, Splash Mountain is under refurbishment, but plans are to re-open in late March 2013.

Some great restaurants to try for a quick yet satisfying meal are Casey's Corner for hot dogs with all the works or my personal favorite in the Magic Kingdom, Columbia Harbour House. If you would like a table service meal, Crystal Palace is a great character meal offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Reservations are highly recommended for this popular restaurant, so be sure to call (407) WDW-DINE (939-3463).

Don't forget to catch any shows or parades if you need a time to relax and take a breather with a small snack.  Check the times guide upon entering the Magic Kingdom for the most current schedule.

I hope your day is full of magic and you are able to create lasting memories with your visiting family!
