we only live about one hour from wdw.am i correct in thinking that getting seasonal passes and the dde card is the most cost effective way for us to enjoy the parks and all they have to offer?mostly day trips and only pay for hotel if we want to stay over?

    Hi there Daryl!

So you live about an hour from Disney, huh?  Have any spare bedrooms?  My family is quiet, I promise!  Florida resident annual passes coupled with the newly named "Tables in Wonderland" (formerly "Disney Dining Experience") is a great combination for enjoying all that Disney has to offer throughout the year at a substantial discount.  We often get annual passes as Disney Vacation Club Members along with the "Tables" plan, and find it very cost effective.  Saving 20% on meals, including alcohol is a phenomenal deal in my opinion.  Disney has been offering some great overnight (room only) rates since the launch of it's "What Will You Celebrate" campaign in addition to its more comprehensive packages.  When we stay in a non-DVC property, we've done well asking for a AAA discount.  If you have AAA, I'd recommend asking if a discount is available when you book as well to save even more.  In addition, Disney sometimes offers "bounceback" specials from time to time, where if you book another trip before you leave, you can get some great rates.  If this is offered, there's generally a card with a special number to call in your room.

I usually end by saying something like, "have a wonderful trip", but in this case, maybe I should make one last plea for a spot on your couch?

Thanks for writing to the Moms Panel!
