Hi there, Sara! Thanks for visiting planDisney. I'm delighted to help with your question--what a good mom you are, looking out for your daughter and son-in-law! My mom would definitely do the same!
It sounds like your kids will be enjoying a well-deserved vacation on
Disney Cruise Line very soon. Our family has journeyed beyond the reef on several occasions with DCL, and there is so much to do for sailors of all ages. As the ports of Cape Canaveral and the more recently-opened Fort Lauderdale are convenient to
Walt Disney World Resort, many Guests choose to indulge in a "land and sea" vacation and combine theme park thrills with their sailing.
For tickets, there are a few options. As part of the Disney Vacation Club, your daughter and son-in-law are eligible to purchase the Sorcerer Pass, which is a deeply discounted
Annual Pass available only to DVC Members. There are a lot of great benefits for Passholders, and if they plan to visit again within the year, it's a great value!
If this trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth will be a one-and-done for the year, it's easy to purchase tickets through the Walt Disney World
ticketing website. I recommend adding the Park Hopper Plus option, as they can explore multiple parks in one day, as well as visit the
Disney Water Parks, play some miniature golf at the two on-site courses (our favorite is
Fantasia Gardens and Fairways Miniature Golf) and visit the
ESPN Wide World of Sports.
Because their cruise is 7 days, they need to carefully check the tickets they purchase. Date-based tickets (tickets you purchase for a specific day) must be used within 7 days of the selected start date, so they may need to purchase one-day tickets for before the cruise, and then separate two-day tickets for their post-cruise adventures. One budgeting tip--check your local discount department store to see if they sell
Disney Gift Cards at a discount. I accumulate gift card funds leading up to a trip and use them to purchase park tickets, food, and souvenirs!
Sara, thanks for being such a thoughtful mama and making some extra magic for your family. It's what we moms do, right? I hope your daughter and her Ohana have the most wonderful vacation--please don't hesitate to
reach out again if I can help with any other questions about all things DVC or Walt Disney World.
Stay Magical!
Susan
