I live 50 minutes (just moved here) from DW and am running the Princess in Feb. I know it is recommended to stay on site, but it just isn't in the budget. I've read to arrive at Epcot before 4:30 am, but is the Monorail open from MK early on race day?

Hi Sarah!  I understand about the budget!  I am assuming you know, though, that you will have to pick up your race packet with your bib number and t-shirt on the day before the race and the Fitness expo at the ESPN Wide World of Sports.  I would plan to arrive at Epcot earlier than 4:30 a.m. on race day.  There is a lot of traffic and once you get parked and to the race tents, you will have to check in your bag and then walk a good distance to the starting line.  I usually arrive between 3:30 and 4 a.m. (yikes!). Here is the official information from runDisney about parking:

Directions to Epcot® (5K and Half Marathon)
Take 1-4 to exit 64 (192 West) and follow the signs to Epcot®. Once you have arrived at the Epcot® auto plaza you will be directed where to park. On Saturday and Sunday from 5:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m., the main entrance to Epcot® from World Drive will be closed to all traffic. During this period, all traffic will be directed to the Magic Kingdom® Park Parking Lot and guests will be transported to Epcot® via Monorail.

So, you will be able to park at Epcot before 5 a.m., and yes, the monorails will be running for transportation to the Magic Kingdom for race specatators.  Please send me any other questions you may have about planning for your race!  See you there!
