Hi Myra-Jane,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question, my fellow Canadian!
Disney Gift Cards are a great way to stick to a budget during a visit to Walt Disney World Resort. I’ve started giving my son his vacation spending spending money on a Disney Gift Card when we first start our vacation. It has been a great way to introduce budgeting to him, which is even useful when our vacation is long over.
Although is no way to ship
Disney Gift Cards purchased online in US dollars to Canada, that’s not your only option! Several Canadian retailers have started to offer Disney Gift Cards themselves. You can use these cards when you visit Walt Disney World Resort the same way as gift cards purchased in US dollars, you’ll just have to pay a conversion rate when you first use the card. After that initial purchase, however, you’ll be able to see exactly how much money you have left on you card in US dollars by checking the bottom of your receipt; that exchange rate will be “locked in” for the rest of the Card’s balance.
You can also purchase Disney Gift Cards in US Dollars at most
merchandise locations in Walt Disney World Resort. That’s usually what we do for our trips and it has worked out really well for my family’s purchases.
I hope my answer helps you plan the perfect Disney Parks vacation. Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions.
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
