Hi Alice,
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for asking us a question, my fellow Canadian!
Canadians can pay for their Walt Disney World Resort vacation the same way that Americans can: either by
booking directly through Walt Disney World Resort or with an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner (who doesn’t have to be located in Canada). The main difference for us is that, while your credit card will charged for your vacation in U.S. dollars, you’ll pay a conversion rate after this charge so that you can pay it off in “regular” (for us, anyway) Canadian dollars. Some credit cards offer more advantageous rates than others, so check with your bank if you have any questions in that regard.
As for the question of which method is better (i.e. booking by yourself or booking via an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner, I think it depends on your personal preferences. While I’ve visited Walt Disney World Resort many times and feel comfortable planning my vacations on my own, if you’re looking to book your first visit to Walt Disney World Resort, I highly recommend dealing with a Vacation Planner. A good one will be an invaluable source of personalized advice during the planning process. Plus, they’ll be able to keep an eye out for
Special Offers that may be available for you during your vacation. While anyone can book these Special Offers, it’s sometimes useful to have someone else do the “leg work” for you!
Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions about your upcoming vacation. I love helping fellow Canadians plan their visits to Walt Disney World Resort!
Have a Magical Day,
Lynne
