Hi we live in Australia and would like to book a 10 day trip late September this year , If we book and pay but covid here in Australia stops us from coming , do we get a refund or can we just change it to the following year?

Hey howdy hey Rebecca and welcome to planDisney!

Walt Disney World Resort is such a Magical place to visit no matter what time of year, but quickly growing on me is experiencing the resort in the fall. The fall feel and appearance walking down Main Street, U.S.A. is so very unique to the season. Not only do you have the park decorated for the fall feel, but you also have the fall parties as well. The Halloween celebration for Disney's After Hours Boo Bash event is one that I highly recommend. Being able to visit the parks with shorter wait times for your favorite attractions, the special Halloween-themed parades and of course, the trick-or-treating around the park are just a few of the many reasons to visit! One thing that we cannot neglect in this day-in-age is the ever-changing landscape that Covid-19 provides us with. To go along with it is the uncertainty of any travel restrictions that may arise and might affect your vacation, so let's look at some scenarios that may apply to your concerns.

So the closest thing that may apply comes from the Terms and Conditions from Walt Disney Travel Company International. Depending on the package you book, there are changes fees associated with any changes made to your booking depending on if you booked a package or if you included your flights in the package. Where this may apply to you is the phrase "Unavoidable and Extraordinary Circumstances" where I feel that your question would apply. If you did experience hardships based on the U.S. Government's or Australian Government's travel restrictions, this sounds like it falls in this category. You would have to call Disney directly and speak to a Cast Member to address your specific situation at the time. If your situation does qualify under the "Unavoidable and Extraordinary Circumstances" then it will be up to the Cast Member to determine if you will be responsible for any change fees or a full refund. If you do choose to book your trip with a travel agent, they will be able to handle this process for you.

If you have the option, I would also suggest looking into Travel Insurance. Depending on the terms and conditions of the plan you select, they would usually cover any expenses that you would incur for situations like this. Something that I always recommend anyone planning a vacation to Walt Disney World Resort looks into for those unplanned events.

Good luck with your continued planning for your trip in September. We cannot wait to welcome you to the Most Magical Place on Earth! Let us know if you have any further questions.

    Happy planning,

    Nick
