Hello Gillian! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.
During a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, we found ourselves having to implement the
Rider Switch Service as my 4-year-old boy was just under the
40" minimum height requirement to ride Soarin' Around the World at Epcot.
Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks do not have a wristband policy to gauge the height of children for the duration of their visit. At each attraction that has a minimum height requirement, there is a measuring device that Cast Members use to gauge whether your child is tall enough. The good news is that children are just asked to stand by the measuring post for the Cast Member to gauge their height and no touching is required.
Cast Members at Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks are sensitive to the needs of Guests. When my son was being measured, he would not sit still so the Cast Member asked for my assistance. In no instance of measuring for height restrictions have any Cast Members ever physically interacted with my children.
I recommend that you have your son prepared for this inevitably and go over with him what he is to do. Once my son got used to what was expected of him, he would initiate the process himself on future attractions.
Be sure to stop by Andy's backyard at
Toy Story Land at Disney's Hollywood Studios Theme Park with your little one. With Slinky Dog Dash having a minimum height requirement of 38", your son will be able to experience all of the fun that Toy Story Land has to offer.
Have a Magical Visit!
