Ahoy Aimee!
I hEAR you loud and clear: you are ready for
all the magic that is part of setting sail with Captain Mickey. Me too! From the fabulous food, sublime service,
exceptional entertainment and
endless supply of activities, it’s easy to see why we are all waving our hands in the air offering to be on these adventures at sea as soon as possible.
Disney Cruise Line has not announced any plans to have volunteers for its initial cruises. It may also be because Captain Mickey has a manageable number of four ships in his fleet and a dedicated following of incredibly loyal Guests. I would say that Guests who have sailed before probably have a distinct advantage, and perhaps the
Castaway Club level might factor into who gets this opportunity. But that is merely speculation on my part. I WISH I had some great intel to share with you, but I’m sure we will know more really soon. If there IS an announcement about Disney Cruise Line seeking volunteer first mates, I suggest that you jump all over that as soon as you see it pop up.
I believe that Disney Cruise Line is going to be ahead of the other cruise lines in the industry because Disney already has experience in opening its theme parks and resort hotels to its Guests. This gives Disney Cruise Line a major advantage in that they can apply that knowledge to when cruising relaunches.
Speaking of when sailing resumes, isn’t that going to be a glorious day? I bet there will be plenty of smiles and tears as each party boards the ship for the very first time and hears that amazing Disney Cruise Line “Welcome Aboard!” If I had to choose, I think I am most looking forward to standing on the front of the ship and soaking in the breeze and the views as the ship sails away from port. It’s going to be my “I’m the King of the World” moment!
Aimee, I hope that you will be one of the first Guests back when Captain Mickey hoists the main sail. Join me back here at planDisney as you navigate the cruise planning waters.
