Ahoy Susan!
Welcome to planDisney! You and I are both on the “Let’s Cruise Now, Pick Us” team! I am so ready to experience
all the magic that is part of setting sail with Captain Mickey. It feels like we are part of a huge group of Guests waving our hands in the air offering to be on these initial voyages when cruising resumes. It’s probably because Disney Cruise Line’s Service,
Entertainment, and
Activities make them the best at “SEA.”
So far, Disney Cruise Line has not announced any plans to have volunteers for its initial cruises. It may also be because Captain Mickey has a manageable number of four ships (soon to be FIVE with the
Disney Wish) in his fleet and a dedicated following of incredibly loyal Guests. If I was guessing, I would say that Guests who have sailed before probably have a distinct advantage, and maybe the
Castaway Club status might factor into who gets this opportunity. I WISH I had some great insider information to share with you, but I’m sure we will know more really soon. If there IS an announcement about Disney Cruise Line seeking volunteer first mates, I suggest that you jump all over that as soon as you see it pop up, probably first on the
Disney Parks Blog or on the
Disney Cruise Line site.
Because Disney already has experience in opening its theme parks and resort hotels to its Guests, I believe that Disney Cruise Line is going to be ahead of the other cruise lines in the industry. They have a major advantage in that they can apply that knowledge to when cruising relaunches. I bet there will be an abundance of cheering and tears as Guests board the ships for the first time back.
Susan, here’s to a start date for sailing and to being one of the first Guests to chart a course with Captain Mickey. If you need our help again, don’t hesitate to reach out to planDisney-that’s what we're here for!
