Tammi from CA Asked Note: This answer was provided prior to the change to planDisney and may still contain references to Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Is there a list of rides and or Hotels that Disney World recommends that would not be appropriate or difficult for a child on the Autism Spectrum?

Hi Tammi! Thanks so much for your questions and for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

I'm so excited for you as it looks like you will be at Walt Disney World Resort in just a few short days!

On the Walt Disney World Resort website, you will find great resources for families and Guests on the Autism Spectrum. The information includes types of services available, suggestions on how to prepare for your upcoming trip, what to bring on your Walt Disney World Resort vacation and a Guide for Guests with Cognitive Disabilities, including details for each theme park and in-depth information regarding Disability Access Service.

Regarding attractions, you will find a document you can print and take with you. The Walt Disney World Resort Attraction Details document includes information for all 4 theme parks and provides details regarding the following items: scents/smells, flashing lights, loud noises, periods of darkness, bumps, fast, lifts off ground, element of surprise, type of restraint, amount of time and whether or not FastPass+ is available. It's a great resource.

Regarding the Resort hotels, if you have not done so already, I would suggest you call Disney Resort Hotel Reservations at (407) 939-1936 and ask for a room that would be well suited for your child. While some of the main lobby areas can be rather noisy, there are typically quieter areas in all of the Resort hotels.

I hope this information is helpful to you as you put the final touches on your vacation. Please let us know if you need further details. Thank you again for sharing your questions with us. Have a magical vacation!
