Hi there, Giles! Welcome to planDisney! We are so happy you made your way here. I can see that we are just a few days away from your arrival, so let's jump right into your question!
It sounds like you may be a seasoned visitor to the
Walt Disney World Resort! While there are many similarities between the two, and of course, they are both bringing a lot of magic to the table, the
Disneyland Resort Mobile App and ticketing system work a bit differently. The good news is you have done the hard part! If everyone is already linked to your account, you will be all set to make
Lightning Lane selections for your full group in one tap, if you have included
Genie+ in your day!
Over at the Happiest Place on Earth, tickets are assigned the first time you scan into the parks at the Main Entrance Gate. You may have listed names when you initially bought the tickets, but it's not until this moment when a Cast Member will take a photo of each Guest as they pass through that they become officially assigned. If you have other adults or older children in your party who will have their own Disneyland App and would like some autonomy in their day, you will just need to self-assign them a ticket ahead of time and have them link that ticket to their own account. To do this, just share the ticket confirmation number that you are assigning to them and have them open up their Disneyland Mobile App. Tap into the three-bar menu in the bottom right-hand corner and select "Tickets & Passes". Once here, select the "+" in the top-right corner and tap "Link Tickets". Here, they can manually enter that ticket confirmation number and then scan into the parks on their own. Just be sure to make a note to yourself so you don't have another member of your family scan in with that ticket. Any Lightning Lane selections will show up in everyone's "My Day" tab accessible by selecting the "+" along the bottom navigation bar in the app and tapping into "View My Genie Day and Tip Board". One thing to note is that unfortunately, any shared dining reservations will only show up in the account of the Guest who made the reservations. I know this is not as magically seamless as you were probably hoping! My workaround is to set an alert in everyone's smartphone calendar about 15 minutes ahead of the reservation time to get everyone moving in that direction!
One thing I like to remind Guests if they are using Genie+ at the Disneyland Resort for the first time, is that your upgrade includes unlimited digital downloads of ALL the
Disney PhotoPass photos you capture that day. Yes. All of them! So hop in front of all those PhotoPass photographers and strike a pose! This includes attraction photos and Magic Shots, so don't be shy! You can even scope out where to find them in the Disneyland Mobile App by tapping the pinpoint icon and choosing PhotoPass from the drop-down menu at the top of the map. It's the perfect way to capture all those magical memories so you can hold onto them once you head home!
Giles, I know this was a lot to absorb! If you have any more questions, feel free to reach back out to me directly. Otherwise, we are always here for you at
planDisney!
Magic awaits!
