Can I link my parents’ tickets to my account to sign us all up for genie +? They are staying outside of Disney. My lodging is in a Disney resort.

Howdy, Ashley! Thanks for visiting us here at planDisney!

The final countdown to your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is officially on! Can you believe that you will be off enjoying Walt Disney World's 50th Anniversary Celebration with your family in just a few short days? How exciting! I’m maybe just a little jealous, I must admit!

There is so much to enjoy during this special time, so I just know you'll love it all. But, for me, nothing tops the stunning Beacons of Magic at all four theme parks. You've never seen the theme park icons quite like this, transformed into a glimmering EARidescent rainbow of colors and magic. I'll tell you, the first time I saw them, they took my breath away!

Now, let’s get to your question so you can get back to packing, shall we? I am happy to share that you can absolutely link your parent’s plans to your My Disney Experience account to book Disney Genie+ selections for your family. But first, you’ll want to make sure to add their theme park tickets to their own My Disney Experience account. To do that, just have them follow the steps below:

    • Open up the ticket order confirmation email you received when purchasing your theme park tickets.
    • On the upper right-hand corner of the confirmation, you will see a bar code with a long number underneath - this is your ticket number.
    • Once you have that, open your My Disney Experience app.
Open the menu by clicking the three stacked lines in the bottom right corner, and click on "Tickets and Passes."
    • Then, click on "Link Tickets & Passes" and enter the number under the barcode manually or click on "Scan Code" to scan the bar code from your confirmation, and you’re all set!

Now that their tickets are linked, it’s time to add them to your Family & Friends list so you can make plans on behalf of the group. I’ve broken down the steps for this below:

    • First, have your parents log into their My Disney Experience app and open the menu (the three stacked lines in the bottom right corner).
    • Next, scroll down and click on "My Profile," and select "Show My Linking Code."
    • Ask them to jot down the six-character manual code on this screen, and send it your way.
    • Once you have their manual linking code, open your My Disney Experience app and navigate to "My Profile."
    • Then, toggle over to "Family & Friends List" and scroll down to select "Add a Guest."
    • Click on "Scan their linking code," then "Manually Enter a Code," and submit, and you are all set!

The manual linking codes are only valid for 30 minutes each, so keep that in mind as you follow the steps above. Now that you’re all linked up, you can start making plans and will be able to make Disney Genie+ selections for the group.

I hope this has been helpful to you! As you continue to prep for your upcoming visit, know that we are here to help you make the most of your Walt Disney World Resort Vacation. So, please visit us again with any questions you may have.

    Until next time,
