You said that I can link new park tickets to old magic bands but you didn’t explain how. I’m taking different family members this time and want to use the same magic bands.

Hi, Daneille! Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney with your question. Your Walt Disney World Resort vacation is getting closer! Let's get your plans on track so you can get back to thinking about the important stuff, like the rides and attractions you want to try, exploring the Theme Parks, and of course, all the fabulous food!

So, here's how MagicBands work in a nutshell, as Chip and Dale might say. All of your Walt Disney World plans go through your My Disney Experience account. That means everything from your tickets, to Resort hotel reservations, to dining reservations, to Mobile Ordering, to PhotoPass photos, to your MagicBands are all linked together in your account. Since all of your plans are basically having a big old party in there, you don't have to do anything else with your MagicBands when you buy new tickets. Any and all MagicBands and Admission Cards you have can be used interchangeably, so all you have to do is make sure the new tickets are linked to your account, and the MagicBands will "auto-magically" work with them. To link your tickets, just log in to your My Disney Experience account and follow the prompts here on the "Link Reservations and Tickets" page.

One thing to note, Daneille, once they've been used on a past visit, MagicBands can't then be reassigned to someone else. You can reuse your own MagicBand for your upcoming vacation, but your family members who are coming with you this time around will either need to purchase new MagicBands or use an Admission Card (which is complimentary). While MagicBands are certainly fun and convenient, they're not completely necessary to have a magical visit to Walt Disney World. An Admission Card is really all you need.

I hope this helps you make the most of your Disney days, Daneille. Please come see us again if you have any more questions!

    Keep Disney Dreaming,

Meet the Panelist: Kathy, Florida

I've lived my whole life just an hour's drive from Walt Disney World, so I've been a regular visitor for as long as I can remember. Even after all these years and so many visits, I love that there's still so much to discover! Now that I'm a mom myself, seeing my favorite place through my son's eyes has given me a whole new perspective that I enjoy sharing with other parents of young children. Learn More About Kathy
