Can I link a Magic Band+ in both my WDW and Disneyland apps? I bought a band and linked to WDW and it’s not letting me link the same one to Disneyland. I’m an AP at WDW but not at Disneyland if that matters.

    Greetings, Melanie!

Thanks for visiting us at planDisney again. I’m happy to share with you my thoughts and experiences with one of my favorite topics: technology at the Disney parks.

I’m sorry to hear you have had issues with linking your MagicBand+ to the Disneyland mobile app. I wonder if Experiment 626 is causing trouble again.

The short answer is yes, a MagicBand+ purchased at the Walt Disney World Resort can be linked with a My Disney Experience account for Walt Disney World and with an account in the Disneyland mobile app. I purchased a MagicBand+ at a discount with my stay at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside in September and then used that same MagicBand+ during a visit to the Disneyland Resort in October.

Because you have had some issues with linking your new band, let’s review some information that I hope will help with resolving this issue.

I would start by using your mobile phone to scan the QR code printed underneath your MagicBand+. That code should open up this MagicBand+ setup page. There, you’ll find links to help set up your MagicBand+ for either the Walt Disney World My Disney Experience app or the Disneyland mobile app. The Link a Band button for the Disneyland app will automatically open the app on your phone. From there, tap on “Link a MagicBand+” Bring your band near your phone and tap the “Open Scanner to Link” button. Then, follow the on-screen prompts to finish the process of linking your band to your Disneyland Resort account.

If those steps don’t seem to work, I recommend the following:

    • Download the latest version of the Disneyland mobile app to your mobile phone
    • Enable device security features for the Disneyland mobile app, especially the ability to connect to Bluetooth devices
    • If the Tap scanner does not work, consider using the Camera scanner or the Type ID option to manually type in the 12-character ID from the MagicBand+
    • For full Bluetooth pairing, make sure the MagicBand+ is fully charged
    •  For additional help, you may call the Website Support phone line or speak with a Guest Relations Cast Member

A MagicBand+ may only be linked to one username and password at a time. So if you happen to use a different username for Disneyland Resort versus for your My Disney Experience account, linking your MagicBand+ will automatically unlink it from the other account. This happened to my wife, who uses her own My Disney Experience account at Walt Disney World, but who had her theme park admission linked to my account at the Disneyland Resort.

I hope that helps a little, Melanie. If you have more questions, please visit us again.
