How do I link my magic band at Disneyland if I’ve used it already at Disney World?

    Hi there, Kirlos,

My family and I have recently done this. We acquired new MagicBand+ bands from visits to the Walt Disney World Resort last year. Then we took those same bands with us to use at the Disneyland Resort this year. As long as the new band is a MagicBand+ band and not the older style MagicBand or MagicBand 2, then you should be able to use it at the Disneyland Resort.

To set up your MagicBand+ for use at the Disneyland Resort, power on the band and tap it on your compatible mobile device. This should prompt you to download the Disneyland mobile app. If you already have the app downloaded, you’ll want to make sure it is the latest version. From the app’s ☰ feature menu, you can open the MagicBand+ page to link your band to your account. Follow the on-screen prompts to step through the process. After linking the band to your account, you may then assign a theme park ticket or Magic Key pass to the band.

If things don’t out at first, you may wish to try the following as well:

    1. Make sure your MagicBand+ band is charged first. This is especially important when performing a Bluetooth pairing.
    2. I sometimes find that fully powering off and restarting my mobile phone helps with pairing.
    3. In some cases, a reset or factory reset of your band may be needed.
    4. I found that I could not link my wife’s band to my Disneyland Resort account if it was already linked to her account. But no worries. It is also easy to unlink a MagicBand+ and link it to another account.
    5. Sometimes the name linked to a theme park ticket seems to affect assigning a MagicBand+ to the ticket. If you have issues with the name tied to a ticket, you may reach out to the Tickets phone line.
    6. You may also visit Guest Relations locations throughout the Disneyland Resort theme parks to request support directly from a Cast Member.

Tony’s Tip: I like to make sure our bands are recharged each night before visiting the theme parks. Be sure to turn on your band by pressing the button on the back once before putting it on. With your MagicBand+ active, you may notice a few surprises when redeeming Lightning Lane return times or after experiencing select attractions. And be sure to give a wave with your MagicBand+ when you see the large Disney100 Celebration medallions and statues located at various places around the Disneyland Resort for an interactive surprise.

I hope you have a magical time at the Disneyland Resort, Kirlos!

    ~Tony
