Welcome to planDisney Lynette! Thank you so much for stopping by with your question. How exciting that you are getting ready to enjoy all the magic of
Walt Disney World Resort! I’d love to help you understand how Disney Gift Cards work with the My Disney Experience app so you can make the most of your visit and focus on the fun.
Disney gift cards don’t link to the
My Disney Experience app the same way a credit card does, so you can’t store them in your account for automatic purchases. Instead, when you place a mobile food order, Lightning Lane passes, or shop through the app, you select the gift card option at checkout and type in the card number each time. A helpful trick is to save the number in your phone’s notes or keep a screenshot handy so you can copy and paste rather than retyping it.
If you’re staying at a Disney resort, you can’t set a gift card as your default payment for room charges, but you can use your MagicBand or room key to charge purchases back to your room. Then, before the charges go through to your credit card, you stop by the front desk and pay down the balance with your gift card.
In the parks and resorts, you can always present the physical gift card to pay at restaurants, shops, and kiosks. Many people find it easier to consolidate balances online at
DisneyGiftCard.com ahead of time so they’re managing fewer cards during the trip.
Lynette, I hope this helps you feel prepared to use your Disney Gift Cards during your upcoming visit. With so many wonderful ways to spend them, whether on delicious meals, special souvenirs, or a little extra pixie dust, you’ll be able to make your trip both magical and stress free. Thank you for stopping by planDisney with your question. Wishing you an unforgettable vacation filled with joy, laughter, and treasured memories from beginning to end!
