Hi there, Jessica,
Although we wish they could stay in Neverland and never grow up, it’s great to let our little Mouseketeers have grown-up experiences once in a while, isn’t it? Although safety standards for a Disneyland Resort account for a minor child don’t permit
linking a credit card to the account, there are other ways to make purchases. One possibility is to use a
Disney Gift Card. Many in-app purchases accept this as a form of payment, including
mobile food and beverage orders and
Merchandise Mobile Checkout.
This is where I will admit that
Experiment 626 (AKA Stitch) once seemed to cause trouble when I attempted to purchase an
individual Lightning Lane return time for
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. So it’s a good idea to have a backup. In my case, I ended up using Apple Pay embedded with the
Disneyland mobile app on my iPhone.
An alternative would be for your daughter to share her ticket ID with you so that you can link her ticket to your account. Even if you are not with her the whole time in the theme parks, you can still log into your account on the Disneyland app and use your payment card to make certain purchases such as the
Disney Genie+ service. Once the service is linked to her ticket, she’ll be able to use her own mobile device to manage
Lightning Lane return times.
Tony’s Tip: Something to keep in mind is that the account used to purchase Genie+ is the primary account for some of the Genie+ entitlements, such as downloading
Disney PhotoPass photos taken by photographers. In that particular case, a Guest who has Genie+ added to their ticket but who did not make the Genie+ purchase can link PhotoPass photos to a PhotoPass card offered by photographers. Then, the primary Guest for the PhotoPass entitlement can link the PhotoPass card ID to their account to access photo downloads.
I hope you, your daughter, and the whole school group have a magical time at the Disneyland Resort, Jessica.
See ya real soon!
