Hiya, Elizabeth! Welcome to planDisney! I am so happy to get you the answer to this great question!
It is always nice to have everyone’s tickets linked together for ease of planning, but I completely understand wanting to know whether you will be the one steering the ship for all things
Disneyland Resort for your group. Linking tickets definitely makes things smoother, but it does not automatically put you in charge of everything.
I often visit with friends or large groups who all have separately purchased tickets or, in my case, a
Magic Key pass. We like to link our tickets in the
Disneyland Mobile app, but it doesn’t mean that one person has to be the one in charge of it all, it simply gives us the option for one person to handle reservations and
Lightning Lanes if they want to. Each Guest should still have their own ticket or pass added to their own Disney account. That way, everyone can manage their own theme park reservation, scan their own ticket at the gates, and select and redeem their own Lightning Lanes.
I do have a helpful tip when it comes to grabbing those Lightning Lanes! If everyone wants to stick together and experience the same attraction, it can be really convenient to pick one or two people as the Lightning Lane selectors. As long as all tickets are linked, that person can select everyone at once and make sure the whole group gets the same return time. Each Guest will still scan in on their own when entering the Lightning Lane queue. Once everyone has scanned in, I always recommend hopping back into the app right away to grab your next experience. It is a little trick that keeps your day flowing with more fun and less waiting!
Elizabeth, I hope your group has the most magical visit to the Happiest Place on Earth! If any other questions pop up while you plan, swing back by. I am always happy to help sprinkle a little more pixie dust your way!
Wishing you many magical memories!
Kimberly
