On limited funds would staying in a Disney hotel give us a better Disney experience than staying in non Disney accommodation but then spending the difference in budget on extras like character dining at the parks and bippidy bobidddy boutique etc?

Hi Alison!  I am a strong supporter of staying on site when booking a Walt Disney World vacation.  You will really get the full magical experience and with the added amenities to resort guests you will surely enjoy the best vacation possible.

They have split the resorts into three categories with the Value category being the least expensive. Look for specials that they often offer such as Free Dining which can be added making an on site vacation very feasible for all budgets. My top choice for value for a single room is the Pop Century. For a family suite check out the Art of Animation resort.

When staying on site you will be able to enjoy the free transportation from the airport and all throughout the Disney property. You never need a car so that is a huge savings. Staying at off site resorts puts you at the mercy of their park transportation which is usually sporadic at best no matter what they say. Guests find that staying off site incurs a car rental a must. Staying at a Disney resort also offers you the great opportunity to hit parks extra early or stay late after all other guests must depart. This is especially good during busy times when the lines can get long during the day.

If the budget can't include everything when staying on site then I would pick one special dining for the kids and forgo the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique on this visit. There are many ways your little princess can feel special and maybe just booking a princess dining experience for one meal would be the best.

My definite vote....stay at a Disney resort for the most magical vacation!
