Hi there, Linsey! I totally get ‘wanting to have all your bases covered’, because I’m the same way! In fact, I’m a chronic medicine overpacker too for the same reasons: I want to be prepared for as much as possible, just in case. I’m married to a pharmacist, so between my Type A personality and his pharmaceutical knowledge, there’s a lot of medication that comes cruising with us!
You’ll be pleased to know that Disney Cruise Line does not have a limit on how many medications you can bring, as this does vary by Guest. However, there is a policy in place for how to pack medication. For over-the-counter medication, such as Motrin, you can pack it in either its original container, a pill-box, etc. Prescription medication, however, must be packed in its original container, per Disney Cruise Line’s
packing guidelines.
If someone in your family does become ill during your cruise, and you need care by a
doctor, it should help to know that Disney Cruise Line has you covered there also, as there is a
Health Center onboard. I know this makes me feel much better, and less anxious about making sure I’ve packed every single medication I can think of, and more.
Another tip I have when packing medication is for embarkation day. On the morning of embarkation day, when you’re doing your last-minute packing before you head out to the port, keep any important medications with you in your carry-on bag. This is because your luggage will be picked up or handed to Disney Cruise Line personnel, and should you need any of that medication on embarkation day, you want to have it close by, as you won’t be receiving your luggage till later in the day.
Linsey, I hope you have a wonderful cruise ahead, filled with beautiful memories! Please sail back to planDisney if you have any further questions.
Bon Voyage,
Rana
