How likely will we be able to get a two scooter accessible Minnie Van after MVMCP? We’re staying at the Boardwalk and attending the party Dec. 12th. Concerned about getting back to our resort and what to do if a van is not available.

    Welcome back to planDisney, Lisa!

Thank you for this thoughtful question; I also like to think through the details ahead of my trip so that everything goes smoothly on our vacation. Knowing my options ahead of time helps make informed decisions in the moment, or if something doesn’t go as planned I feel less stressed when we must pivot on a plan. I’m happy to share some ideas of what’s possible for a smooth return to Disney’s BoardWalk Inn after a fun evening at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Please know you and your family will have a few options for a safe return in your scooters at the end of the evening.

I adore Disney’s Minnie Van Service, and an accessible van for two scooters is a great option at the end of a long day to get home quickly with this personalized, private transportation. At this time, Minnie Van Service is available until 12:30 A.M. (subject to change), so I would plan to request your ride using the Lyft app before that time to ensure you can request one of these adorable and helpful accessible vehicles for a ride home.

If you have trouble in the late evening or there aren’t any accessible vehicles available within a reasonable response time, please know you may always take the complimentary Disney bus transportation back to your resort. There will be plenty of buses available for Guests at the end of the party to return to the many Disney resorts safely. When you navigate to the queue for the buses, please keep an eye out for the accessible lane - your driver will then set up the vehicle and install a ramp for you to easily glide onto the bus and safely disembark when you arrive at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn.

Your scooters may glide onto the bus for any transportation need around the Walt Disney World Resort on your stay, not just after the party. These can also go onto the Friendship Boats located right outside your resort to sail to EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios. When navigating around the Magic Kingdom or from EPCOT, you can also go directly onto the monorail. I hope this eases your mind about the accessible transportation options during your stay.

You’re going to have such a wonderful time at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party! Be sure to check out our new planDisney guide to this event and the Foodie Guide to all the seasonal treats so you can make your must-do list and check it twice to maximize your time! My favorite activity is collecting cookies and holiday drinks at each treat station and the magical Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.

Please let us know how else we can help you make the most of this special trip during the most magical time of the year!

Wishing you a wonderful holiday season,
