    how likely will I be able to rent strollers? Also I heard from a friend that the strollers do not recline so that might not be a good choice for my son 18months to take a quick power nap in?

    Hi Jill,

    I have never had a problem renting a stroller at Disney.  As long as you arrive at the parks early in the day, and head directly to stroller rental, you should be fine.  If you are travelling at peak or holiday seasons, I would highlight the need to arrive as early as possible to ensure that a stroller is available.

    You are correct that Disney rental strollers do not recline.  They are made of a hard plastic material that is easy to clean and get ready for the next guest.  They are very easy to push and maneuver, and have a good-sized canopy.  If your child needs his seat laid back for a power nap (as mine did), I recommend bringing along a lightweight, inexpensive model that does the trick.  We were able to pick up strollers with great canopies, good storage, cup holders and reclining seats at a local Walmart for about $35 dollars a while back.  By bringing your own stroller, you will have access to a set of "wheels" outside the parks, including the airport (if you fly) walking around your resort, the BoardWalk area and getting to and from the parks.  Disney has a nifty little ability to lull tired children to sleep just as they are exiting in my experience.  I can't say that carrying a limp, sleeping toddler out of the parks after a long day is one of my Disney highlights!  With a child your son's age, I would definitely consider bringing along your own stroller.  If you do opt for a rental, you might want to consider getting a double stroller, and allowing your son to lay down on the long bench.  You can even bring a towel or small blanket to make the seat softer for him.
