Galactic Greetings, Cassidy. Thanks for cruising by with your question. Watching my oldest son build a lightsaber at
Savi's Workshop is still one of the coolest Disney experiences that I've ever had. I am so excited that you'll be taking one home with you!
Cassidy, while it depends on which lightsaber you choose to build and how long your luggage is, I would not recommend checking it in your luggage, as the blade itself is quite delicate and might get damaged in a checked bag.
I'm a Disneyland local and fly frequently, and I have often seen others bringing lightsabers onboard as a carry-on to be placed in the overhead compartment. This would be my suggestion. The Savi's lightsaber carrying cases generally have a foam insert that protects the blade, but it may not be enough to withstand any heavy jostling in a checked bag. The Gatherers at Savi's can also provide suggestions if you need more ideas on how to transport your new lightsaber!
Cassidy, I am not sure when your trip is, but I do hope it is in time to enjoy
Season of the Force at Disneyland. My son and I just saw the new Shadows of Memory: A Skywalker Saga projection last night, and it was epic. I also enjoyed the new scenes added to Star Tours and the limited return of
Hyperspace Mountain! Also, jump to light speed to the
Disney Parks Blog Foodie Guide for Season of the Force. The Wookie Cookie is a new family favorite!
I hope this information helps! Please visit us again with any other questions.
May the Force Be With You,
Melissa
