Bright Suns, Kristian!
I’m excited to hear that you will soon be traveling to a galaxy “not” so far away. The Jedi wielded the lightsaber to protect and keep the peace in the galaxy for thousands of generations. I’ve had the privilege of building my own at
Savi’s Workshop as well. So let’s make the jump to hyperspace and get you the answer you seek.
Alrighty, so in my experience, you can certainly bring your newly built lightsaber on rides where you can place it on the floor. On some rides, like
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, it’s not a big deal because there is plenty of room and the ride doesn’t move that much, and you can store it on the floor by your feet. I would certainly recommend buying or bringing a case to put it in while you are venturing around the parks and going on rides. Another option is to remove the blade from the hilt so that you don’t have to worry about it getting broken. There are some rides, though, like Slinky Dog Dash, where you can leave it with a cast member until you exit the ride. I’ve always found that cast members will approach you to let you know about your options if you don’t get to them first. Another option I would certainly consider is to try to schedule your reservation for later in the evening so that you do not have to worry about bringing it on rides. It’s also really cool to light up your lightsaber when it gets dark. There are some really amazing photo opportunities to take advantage of.
While you’re visiting, I would recommend that you stop by
Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities in Galaxy’s Edge. This legendary Ithorian has procured an amazing array of items from around the galaxy. You can purchase additional Kyber Crystals to change the color of your custom-built blade. They can also power a Jedi or Sith Holocron. Be on the lookout for the elusive Black Kyber Crystal, as it holds some surprises.
Kristian, I hope the force will be with you in your quest to build your very own custom lightsaber, and that you have a magical vacation. If you have any further questions, please stop by, and my fellow panelists and I will be happy to assist you.
Till the Spire,
Robert
