Lightning Lane question - I am going to be traveling to Walt Disney World with a large-ish group (about 14-16 people). Can I book LLs for everyone if they purchase their own if we are connected on MDE? Or do I need to purchase for everyone

    Hi Wayne!

    Welcome to planDisney!

I’m happy to let you know that you can purchase and book Lightning Lanes for up to 20 people. But here’s where it gets a little tricky.

You’ll book your Lightning Lane pre-selections for Lightning Lane Multi Pass and your return times for Lightning Lane Single Passes when you purchase the services prior to your trip (pending availability). Because of that, if everyone purchases their own Lightning Lane services, it could potentially be difficult to line up everyone’s Lightning Lane return times so that they enjoy the attractions at the same time.

To ensure everyone can ride together, I’d recommend having one person in charge of purchasing and booking Lightning Lanes. But I realize that adds up quickly…especially with 14 to 16 people! Whenever I’m the one in charge of Lightning Lanes for my family of 18, everyone pays me back as soon as I make the purchase.  You can also get a heads up on how much you expect the Lightning Lanes to cost up to 3 weeks in advance of your trip.

To do so on your My Disney Experience app, click the Purchase button under Lightning Lane Multi Pass/Single Pass on the home page, then choose the date you’ll be at the park. From there, click the dropdown menu for the park you’ll be visiting to see the price for that day.

Of course, if you do decide it's easier for everyone to purchase and book their own Lightning Lane pre-selections, you could still book as a group on your actual park day once everyone has scanned into their first Lightning Lane of the day using Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Each time you book a Lightning Lane on your park day, you'll check off who you want to include in that booking.

It’s good to note that if you’re planning to purchase Lightning Lane Premier Pass, you will not need to worry about Lightning Lane return times. Instead, on your park day, you would just enter any available Lightning Lane in the park whenever you choose. So, in that case, it wouldn’t be an issue if everyone purchased it separately.

As a reminder, your booking window for all Lightning Lane services will open up at 7 AM Eastern, 7 days prior to your resort check-in date if you’re staying at a Disney World resort or select good neighbor hotel. If you’re staying off property, it will open at 7 AM Eastern, 3 days prior to the start date of your ticket (for date-based tickets).

I hope that helps! If you have any other questions leading up to your trip, let us know!
