Whether you pre-purchased a Lightning Lane Multi Pass (LLMP) with your theme park tickets or purchase a
Lightning Lane pass the same day, you will be able to make your first Lightning Lane selection as soon as you scan your admission ticket for the first time on the day of your visit. The earlier you arrive at the park, the better your chances of snagging earlier return times. My top tip would be to book Lightning Lane return times for the most popular rides (Space Mountain, Toy Story Midway Mania!, etc.) or those on your must-do list first thing in the morning, because otherwise those return times book quickly and you may not be able to get a time until later in the day.
To purchase or select a Lightning Lane Single or Multi-Pass, open the Disneyland Mobile App and click on the three horizontal lines icon (☰) at the bottom right-hand of the home screen. Next, click on the "Lightning Lane Passes” button on the top right. You'll see several banners for the Lightning Lane options, along with a purchase button underneath each. Click on the pass you'd like to purchase, and it will take you to the "Tip Board" where you can see a list of attractions, current standby line wait times, and available Lightning Lane return times. At the top, you'll see green arrows that say "Purchase for Today at..." and the listed cost for the day. After you purchase, you can book whichever Lightning Lane you wish to experience and return at that time to the attraction. Return to the Tip Board when you are ready to book a new return time.
Mindy, if you added the
park hopper option to your ticket, you can select Lightning Lane return times for either park after scanning into the first park. For instance, if you start in Disneyland Park, you can book Lightning Lane return times for Disney California Adventure Park after 11:00 AM (currently, the earliest time to park hop). So once you finish your must-do rides in one park, you can start booking for the next park.
One last tip before I sign off: The purchase of a Lightning Lane Multi Pass also gives you unlimited
Disney PhotoPass downloads for that day of your visit! This includes any photos from attractions, character meet and greets, and PhotoPass lenses found in the
Disneyland app. To view your photos, click on the horizontal lines icon (☰) on the app homescreen and then scroll to the Disney PhotoPass section and click on Photo Gallery. Disney PhotoPass photos are a great way to bring home magical memories of your visit and are a perfect souvenir!
