With the Lightning Lane Multipass, I understand that there are two tiers when choosing your first three attractions. What happens after you start using it? Can you choose from any ride, or does the tier system limit your choice?

Hiya, Lydia! Welcome back to planDisney!

When my family and I are at Walt Disney World Resort, we love using Lightning Lane Multi Pass. It saves us time to enjoy other things, like eating snacks around the World Showcase! I consider myself a bit of a Lightning Lane Multi Pass connoisseur, so let’s dive right in.

You are correct. Lightning Lane Multi Pass attractions are separated in groups when you are booking them ahead of your visit. If you are staying at a Disney Resort hotel and select other hotels, you will be able to purchase your passes 7 days ahead of your resort stay. If you are staying off-site, you can purchase your passes 3 days in advance of your park visit.

When booking your Lightning Lanes, you’ll be prompted to select 1 attraction from the first group, and 2 attractions from the second group, for a total of 3. You could also choose all 3 attractions from the second group, but some of the most popular attractions included in Lightning Lane Multi Pass are in the first group. Therefore, I do suggest that you take advantage of booking an attraction from the first group.

Now, things change when you’re in the parks. On the day of your visit, as soon as you redeem your first Lightning Lane, you’ll be able to book your next one. At this point, groups no longer apply, and you can book any available attraction included in Lightning Lane Multi Pass. Also, if you have Park Hopper tickets, your next Lightning Lane booking can be in the next park you intend to visit.

Here’s a pro tip that has worked wonders for us. One of your initial 3 Lightning Lane selections should be as early in the day as possible. That way, as soon as you redeem that early Lightning Lane, you’ll be able to book any attraction in the Multi Pass lineup, including attractions from the first group! Score!

Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a great way to get time back during your park day! I hope this answers your question, Lydia!
