Welcome to planDisney, Katie!
Doesn't life always seem a bit more magical when there's a trip to Walt Disney World Resort on the horizon? There's just something about counting down to Mickey-shaped snacks, fantastic (and
Fantasmic!) fireworks displays, and hugs from your favorite characters that puts an extra skip in my step. Speaking of skipping, let's talk skipping standby queues with Lightning Lane passes!
Since you're planning to maximize magic by minimizing waits during your vacation by purchasing
Lightning Lane Multi Pass, I can tell that you're my kind of Mouseketeer, Katie! I think you'll find that it's so exciting to secure a Lightning Lane for your favorite attractions — for me, that's Slinky Dog Dash & Kilimanjaro Safaris — before you're even in the middle of the magic. Per Walt Disney World Resort policy, Lightning Lane purchases and selections are nontransferable and intended for use by the Guest to whose account the Lightning Lane is linked. If you happen to arrive at an attraction for which you hold a Lightning Lane and discover that a member of your party will be unable to ride, you'll want to speak to a Cast Member at the Lightning Lane entrance to discuss your options. My good friend Kay shared
some tips about Rider Switch with a previous Guest that I think you might find particularly helpful.
Happily, the Lightning Lane feature in the My Disney Experience app is very user-friendly and will allow you to select your party for each attraction or experience. To avoid disappointment upon arrival at an attraction's entrance, you can find a list of the various height requirements at Walt Disney World Resort
here and use it as a guide when choosing your party for each selection.
A bit of advice from a budget-minded Mouseketeer: While my husband and I love to spend our time in The Most Magical Place on Earth enjoying dining and entertainment options rather than queuing, purchasing Lightning Lane passes for each day of our vacation isn't always in the budget. With this in mind, we typically purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass only on days we know we'll be spending the majority of our day in the theme parks so that we can maximize the value of our purchase. On the days we plan to enjoy the theming of Disney Resort hotels for part of the day, we will opt to purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass or plan to exclusively enjoy our favorite attractions or those with minimal wait times — it feels like pixie dust when those two lists overlap — while we are in the theme parks.
I hope this information was helpful, Katie. If you need any additional assistance or advice as you continue your countdown and finalize your plans, feel free to come see us again at

Thinking Happy Thoughts,
Lizzie
