Welcome to planDisney, Jennifer!
Here it's never too soon to discuss the details of your next Walt Disney World Resort vacation. I'm so glad you stopped by!
We're like-minded Mouseketeers Jennifer, because I'm also all about maximizing magic while minimizing waits when I'm visiting Walt Disney World Resort. Happily,
Lightning Lane passes are designed with Guests like you and me in mind!
These passes are available for purchase through the My Disney Experience app and allow Guests to bypass the standby queue for select attractions on the date for which the pass was purchased. Currently, there are three different types of Lightning Lanes — Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Lightning Lane Single Pass, and Lightning Lane Premier Pass — so let's dig into the details of each one.
- Lightning Lane Multi Pass is available for purchase by date and allows Guests to bypass the standby queue for select attractions in the theme park for which the Multi Pass is purchased. When you make the purchase you'll be prompted to select three attractions and return times in your selected theme park from those that are currently available. Once you have redeemed your first attraction on the day of your visit, you'll be able to select another experience. This magical trend will continue as long as availability remains! While you will choose one theme park at the time of purchase, if your theme park ticket has park hopping capabilities then you will be able to make a selection in a different theme park at no additional charge once you have redeemed your first. To redeem your Lightning Lanes you'll simply scan in to the attraction's dedicated Lightning Lane entrance during your return window.
- Lightning Lane Single Pass is exclusively available for Walt Disney World's most popular attractions in each theme park. Like Multi Pass, you'll purchase this separately from your theme park ticket and redeem it at the attraction's entrance within a certain return window, but unlike Single Pass, each purchase is only valid for one-time use on one specific attraction. It's also worth noting that Guests are limited to two Single Pass purchases per day.
- Lightning Lane Premier Pass is purchased for a specific theme park and allows Guests to bypass queues for all attractions available through the Lightning Lane system (both Multi Pass and Single Pass) without the time constraints of return windows.
As I mentioned,
Lightning Lane passes can be purchased in advance. Guests of Disney Resort hotels (and a few select others) are eligible to make these purchases 7 days before check-in for the entire length of their stay. All other Guests become eligible 3 days before the day they intend to visit the theme park of purchase. Oh, and don't forget that your Lightning Lane purchases include digital downloads of
select Disney PhotoPass attraction photos. Just like magic!
I hope this clears things up for you, Jennifer. If you need any additional assistance preparing your Walt Disney World Resort vacation, feel free to stop back by. I'm happy to help!
Thinking Happy Thoughts,
Lizzie
